Phased installation to protect membrane integrity on a busy build
Coordinating around trades to deliver fault free protection
Fend was appointed by DB Builders Ltd to install a ground gas protection system beneath a new residential build in Northumberland. With multiple trades scheduled on site, we adopted a phased installation strategy, ensuring the membrane remained undamaged throughout construction, without disrupting the build programme.
A two phase approach for minimal disruption
To reduce footfall on the membrane, our team first installed it around the perimeter of the plot, allowing bricklayers to begin work without delay. Once other trades had completed their tasks, we returned for phase two, installing the remaining membrane across the full footprint of the building. This approach balanced build progress with membrane protection.
High performance materials, tested and verified
The system included Quadproof Evolution membrane alongside a self adhesive membrane, selected based on a detailed site investigation. All joints were sealed using heat and pressure welding for long term performance, with full installation carried out by our NVQ qualified team. Third party validation and testing was undertaken to ensure the system met compliance and performance requirements.
