Holding back the floodwaters in Bilton
Protecting homes through precision pond lining
When M&J Evens Construction needed a trusted partner to install robust geomembrane linings for a sustainable drainage system (SuDS) in Bilton, Hull, they turned to Fend. The goal? To ensure a network of ponds could safely contain excess surface water during heavy rainfall, helping reduce flood risk for the surrounding community.
Built to perform under pressure
Working across several newly constructed ponds ranging from 200m² to 600m², we supplied and installed 1mm Juta JUNIFOL HDPE geomembrane, a high performance liner chosen for its strength, chemical resistance, and long term durability. Each joint was sealed using wedge and extrusion welding, ensuring watertight integrity across the entire system.
Supporting a smarter water strategy
The project forms part of the wider Living With Water initiative, which aims to manage rainfall more sustainably across Hull and East Yorkshire. Our role was critical in enabling the SuDS features to work as intended - holding, slowing and controlling water during peak events to protect homes, roads and infrastructure.
